Brinkburn Mass

This Saturday at 12 noon the annual Extraordinary Form Mass will be held at Brinkburn Priory, in Northumberland with kind permission of English Heritage. The Rudgate Singers will be singing Hassler`s Mass no.2 and the schola Sancti Bedae will sing the proper. The celebrant will be Fr Swales, with Fr Phillips as deacon and me as subdeacon. The above picture is from 2009 when the sacred ministers were all members of the FSSP.

What a pity this is clashing with the Votive Mass of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross at the Dominican Priory of the Holy Cross, Leicester :(

Will there be any arrangement for Confessions beforehand?

There are no arrangements for confession but I imagine if you approach one of the priests in good time before Mass a confession could be heard.

Sad that there was a smaller congregation than in previous years. It can only be presumed that the forecast of strong winds & heavy rain deterred many from venturing into the wilds of Northumberland. In the event the weather during & after Mass was balmy enabling us to picnic outside. The event was well publicised so we hope this was a one-off
